Description to Action Research

It has become very clear that an Action Research is a focused strategy designed to assist an administrator with the everyday fast paced world of education. The educational system as we now it is changing very rapidly and in order to keep on top of the instructional strategies, we will have to continue to learn from every opportunity. An Action Research does actually that, it is born from the idea to want to know how to make something better. It will answer many questions and promote a "bye in" from all that are involved in the study. In many forms it is designed to promote questions about what we already know and to assist in the areas that we have not yet mastered. As an administrator it will be a very valuable tool that helps focus the teachers, staff and students in the areas such as instructional strategies. When a campus is determined to work together for the better of the students then we all prosper. An Action Research should always have the student in mind; it should never be used to make your job easier when the student suffers. When this inquiry is complete it should be both educational and beneficial to all who are involved.

  1. Educational leaders can use this Inquiry to assist students struggling with classroom instructions or discripline. In many cases the students want to be helped and they like structure even though some resist, but they all benifit from a safe and orderly enviroment.

  2. In conclusion:

The dropout rate is a manageable number. Each student has to make their mind up whether they want to finish school or not. I have found that helping them work through their issues we can persuade them to finish high school and maybe even college. This inquiry is designed to identify students that are most at risk of dropping out. By measuring their success rate and interest with school activities we can establish a rating for each student that aids in placement into groups. Most students develop preconceived ideas from past issues that they have had with the school. It is my intention to break through those barriers with love and compassion for them as a person. By assigning each high risk student into a group designed to be successful, I am hoping to build relationships that will encourage them to move on and succeed when the going gets tough. In conclusion I would like encourage all stakeholders to become an essential part of the dropout program, with your help we can develop a relationship with students that will not only be educational but that will possibly last for a life time.
